OIL LEAK REPAIR
YOUR LOCAL OIL LEAK REPAIR SHOP / TECHNICIANS / SPECIALISTS
Serving the South Bay Area Including San Jose, Willow Glen, Santa Clara, Sunnyvale & beyond
That dark stain spreading under your car didn’t appear overnight. Oil leaks start small and grow worse as gaskets continue to deteriorate. Topping off the oil every few weeks might keep the engine alive, but it doesn’t solve anything. We track down the source, explain what’s actually failing, and repair it so you stop buying oil by the case.

VALVE COVER GASKET REPAIR
WHAT IT COVERS: Replacing the gasket that seals the valve cover to the cylinder head, stopping oil from seeping onto exhaust components and creating smoke or burning smells.
Valve covers cap the top of your engine where the camshafts and valvetrain live. The gasket between the cover and cylinder head takes constant abuse from heat radiating up through the aluminum. After enough thermal cycles, the rubber loses flexibility and oil finds its way out. It runs down the engine and lands on the exhaust manifold, where it burns off and fills the cabin with an acrid smell at stoplights. Some vehicles let you swap this gasket in an hour. German cars often bury the covers under layers of plastic and wiring that extend the job considerably. Spark plug well seals usually come as part of the gasket kit, and we replace them at the same time. Letting oil pool around spark plugs causes misfires and can short out coil packs. Better to handle everything while the cover is already off.

OIL PAN GASKET REPAIR
WHAT IT COVERS: Replacing the gasket between the oil pan and engine block to stop leaks that drip onto your driveway and create low oil conditions.
The oil pan catches and holds your engine’s lifeblood at the bottom of the block. A thin gasket keeps that oil inside, and time eventually wins. Leaks here drip straight down onto whatever surface you park on. The repair sounds simple until you realize some vehicles require lifting the engine off its mounts or dropping subframe assemblies to create enough clearance. We know which platforms cooperate and which ones demand extra steps. Pan leaks seem harmless until you forget to check the dipstick and the level drops dangerously low. Engines don’t forgive running without adequate lubrication. We install new gaskets with proper sealant where specified and follow torque sequences that prevent warping and repeat failures.

REAR MAIN SEAL REPLACEMENT
WHAT IT COVERS: Replacing the seal between the engine and transmission that prevents oil from escaping at the back of the crankshaft.
This seal hides where nobody wants to work. The crankshaft passes through it as it exits the engine to meet the transmission, and replacing the seal means separating those two components. Transmission removal is serious labor regardless of what vehicle you drive. The part itself barely registers on a parts invoice. Getting to it accounts for nearly the entire bill. Oil from a rear main leak accumulates around the bell housing and drips from the bottom of the transmission. The pattern mimics other leaks, so accurate diagnosis prevents expensive mistakes. We verify the source before recommending this repair. Clutch jobs and transmission rebuilds already require this separation, so combining a rear main seal with other work eliminates redundant labor.

TIMING COVER GASKET REPAIR
WHAT IT COVERS: Replacing gaskets at the front of the engine that seal the timing cover and prevent oil from reaching belts and pulleys.
Your timing chain or belt runs behind a cover at the front of the engine, and that cover seals with gaskets that age out like everything else. When they fail, oil creeps onto the serpentine belt and accessory pulleys. Belts glazed with oil slip under load and wear out faster than they should. Access varies dramatically between engines. Some covers practically fall off. Others hide behind radiators, fans, and AC hardware that all need removal first. We evaluate the job before quoting and explain what’s involved. Timing cover gaskets often make sense to replace during timing chain or belt service since the cover comes off anyway.

OIL FILTER HOUSING REPAIR
WHAT IT COVERS: Replacing gaskets and seals on the oil filter housing assembly, which commonly leak on European vehicles and some domestic engines.
German engineers designed remote oil filter housings that make filter changes cleaner and easier. They also designed gaskets that fail predictably around the sixty thousand mile mark. BMWs leak here constantly. Audis and VWs do the same thing. The housing mounts to the engine block with a large O-ring or gasket that hardens and shrinks over time. Oil escapes and flows wherever gravity takes it, often contaminating belts or pooling on exhaust components. Some housings crack and require complete replacement rather than just fresh seals. We inspect the housing itself before assuming a gasket will solve the problem. San Jose has plenty of German cars on the road, and we’ve replaced enough of these housings to do the job efficiently.
