Fuel Pump Failure

Certain year models are subject to fuel pump issues, which can lead to several performance issues.

Your A4’s fuel pump plays an important role in smooth acceleration, ignition, and operation of the car. While Audi’s fuel pump reliability has improved in recent years, A4s which are over ten years old are highly susceptible to fuel pump failure. If your fuel pump is going bad, you’re likely to experience uneven acceleration, stalling, bad fuel economy, misfires, and other performance issues. Accelerated Wear on Suspension

We see many A4s with suspension issues which should not impact vehicles of their age.

Like the previously mentioned fuel pump issues, A4s which are about ten years old experience suspension issues often. These issues stem from insufficient parts which age faster than they should. While driving, a suspension issue can cause your car to feel like it is pulling to one side or the other, you might feel the car sway from back to front while braking or accelerating, or you could hear a clunking noise while driving. Carbon Buildup

When carbon accumulates in the intake system, it can inhibit the flow of fuel to key components of the vehicle.

While this problem is not unique to A4s, it does seem to happen more frequently in some A4 models than others. Over time, carbon can build up in the areas which feed fuel into the engine. This can result in limited performance, bad fuel mileage, and even engine failure if it is left unchecked. Luckily, if it’s caught early, we can remove the intake manifold and clean the system out before it causes more damage.

Oil Leaks and High Consumption

It might seem like you can keep adding oil to a vehicle which is leaking, but an oil leak is a major problem which should be addressed quickly. Some A4s have gaskets which are prone to fail, causing oil to leak on the ground or into other engine components. Oil leaks can cause major engine issues, so if your A4 has a leak or if the engine light comes on with an oil level code, let us check it out before the problem gets worse.
