Bring your Toyota RAV4 in when a new noise or a change in driving keeps returning. At Driven Auto Care of San Ramon, we repair gasoline and hybrid models, with service matched to the equipment in yours. We can also take care of the maintenance due while the vehicle is here.
— Let’s get started —
BRAKE INSPECTION AND REPAIR
COMMON CONCERNS: Grinding, Uneven Pad Wear, Brake Vibration.
Your RAV4 Hybrid uses energy recovery alongside conventional friction braking. During energy recovery, the electric motor acts as a generator and recovered energy is stored in the hybrid battery. That reduces some friction-brake use while pads and rotors remain necessary. Those components still need inspection even if stopping feels familiar.
During brake service, we measure pad and rotor wear and check the related hardware. Remaining pad material and rotor condition help establish the work required. Grinding or a change in stopping performance calls for prompt attention. Follow the instructions in your owner's manual and stop driving if braking is impaired.
TIRE WEAR AND WHEEL ALIGNMENT
COMMON CONCERNS: Uneven Tread, Steering Pull, Off-Center Wheel.
Wear along one edge of a tire can develop when the wheel angles are incorrect. An off-center steering wheel while the RAV4 travels straight also warrants a check, particularly after a road impact. Alignment adjusts those angles, but worn steering or suspension parts may need repair before the adjustment will hold.
Our alignment inspection includes the components that position the wheels. Tire pressure and condition also matter when the vehicle pulls to one side. If a worn joint allows unwanted movement, replacing it addresses what lets the angle change. The wheels can then be aligned with that movement corrected.
WHEEL BEARING DIAGNOSIS
COMMON CONCERNS: Road-Speed Hum, Growling, Wheel-Area Vibration.
A hum that grows with road speed can come from a worn wheel bearing. Unevenly worn tires can sound similar, so replacing a bearing based only on the noise can leave the hum unchanged. Tell us when you notice it during normal driving, including whether it changes as the RAV4 speeds up.
Inside the hub, the bearing supports the wheel as it rotates. Wear can make that rotation noisy or allow unwanted play. Checking the hub assemblies and tires helps locate the source. We replace a failed bearing assembly when needed, or investigate the tread wear responsible if the sound comes from a tire.
ENGINE AND HYBRID COOLING SERVICE
COMMON CONCERNS: Coolant Loss, Temperature Warnings, Visible Leaks.
Your RAV4's powertrain determines its cooling arrangement. For example, the 2023 RAV4 Hybrid has separate coolant reservoirs for the engine and power-control unit. Checking one cannot establish the level in the other. The correct circuit and specified fluid have to be identified before coolant is added or service begins.
Our shop repairs coolant leaks and provides hybrid cooling diagnostics. Recurring coolant loss needs investigation; a temperature warning needs the response described in your manual. Keep hot cooling systems closed to prevent burns from released coolant. After a leak repair, the affected circuit needs its proper refill procedure.
SPARK PLUG AND IGNITION SERVICE
COMMON CONCERNS: Rough Running, Acceleration Hesitation, Misfire Warnings.
Spark-plug electrodes wear with use, widening the gap the spark has to cross. That can increase the voltage needed to fire, making an ignition weakness more noticeable under load. Coils and their connections can also interrupt the spark. Rough running therefore needs diagnosis even if scheduled plug replacement isn't due yet.
We check the affected ignition components and replace worn plugs using the specification for your RAV4's engine. Scheduled service follows the requirements for that engine, while a misfire needs its cause identified. Bring us a recurring hesitation or rough idle so the repair addresses the change you're feeling behind the wheel.
