ACURA RDX REPAIR
YOUR LOCAL ACURA RDX REPAIR SHOP / TECHNICIANS / SPECIALISTS
Serving the East Bay Area Including San Ramon, Dublin, Danville, Blackhawk & beyond.
When your Acura RDX needs an oil change, we can check the other maintenance due during the same visit. At Driven Auto Care of San Ramon, we also repair the problems that arise between scheduled services, from dragging brakes to rough running. Your RDX's year and equipment guide the work, including rear-drive-unit service on SH-AWD models.
— Let’s get started —
OIL CHANGES AND SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE
COMMON CONCERNS: Maintenance Minder Messages, Due Fluid Service, Unknown Service History.
An RDX Maintenance Minder message can call for more than an oil change. Its main code and numbered subcodes identify the services due, which may include filters or another fluid. We can explain those items when you book and check available records if you're unsure when a service was last completed.
The oil-life percentage estimates when the oil needs service using engine operating conditions. It doesn't measure the quantity remaining in the engine. Oil level still needs checking as your manual directs, even with substantial oil life displayed. Our maintenance service addresses the work due and any separate concern about oil loss.
AC AND CABIN FILTER SERVICE
COMMON CONCERNS: Warm Vents, Restricted Airflow, Slow Cabin Cooling.
If you hear the fan running strongly but feel little air, the cabin filter may be restricting the passage. Collected debris reduces how much air gets through, including air cooled inside the climate unit. Checking the filter reveals whether replacement can restore that flow or another obstruction needs attention.
A strong stream that stays warm calls for refrigerant and temperature-control checks. We repair AC leaks and service compressor or blower faults when diagnosed. For a refrigerant leak, repair includes sealing the escape point and restoring the specified charge.
BRAKE PADS AND CALIPER REPAIR
COMMON CONCERNS: Uneven Pad Wear, Brake Drag, Grinding.
After you release the brake pedal, the caliper needs to release its clamping force. A binding piston or restricted sliding hardware can keep a pad rubbing against the rotor. That continued contact produces wear while the wheel turns. New pads can wear unevenly again if the caliper's movement remains restricted.
Our brake inspection checks pad condition and caliper movement together. Repairing the binding component lets the brake release as intended, while rotor measurements show whether the rubbing has caused damage requiring additional work. Grinding or impaired braking needs prompt attention. Follow your owner's manual and stop driving if braking performance has deteriorated.
SH-AWD AND DRIVELINE SERVICE
COMMON CONCERNS: Due Rear-Fluid Service, Turning Noise, Driveline Vibration.
An SH-AWD-equipped RDX has a rear drive unit with its own fluid requirement. We service that unit separately using the fluid specified for your RDX. The Maintenance Minder and service history help establish when rear-unit service is due. This is especially useful on a used RDX with gaps in its maintenance records.
Noise during turns may instead come from a CV joint or another driveline component. If the protective boot tears, grease can escape and contamination can enter the joint. We locate the noise and check the joint's condition before recommending a boot or assembly repair.
MISFIRE AND IGNITION DIAGNOSIS
COMMON CONCERNS: Rough Idle, Acceleration Hesitation, Engine Warnings.
As a spark plug wears, the growing gap between its electrodes makes it harder to fire. Increased ignition demand under load can make the weakness noticeable during acceleration. Coils or their connections can also interrupt the spark. A cylinder-specific misfire code identifies where combustion is failing, without establishing which part caused it.
During diagnosis, we check the affected cylinder's ignition components and other possible causes of the misfire. Replacing a coil won't correct a fault outside the ignition system. Bring us the hesitation or rough idle you're experiencing, and follow the manual's response to an engine warning before continuing to drive.
