The 2.0T in the A4 has a thirst for oil, and the earlier ones drink the most. You fill it and the level still slides down before the next change. Carbon cakes onto the intake valves too, since it's direct injection, and it turns into a stumble or rough running once the miles pile up. The one that gets people's attention is the timing chain tensioner. A weak one lets the chain go slack, and that rattle at cold start is the warning you don't ignore. Oil seeps from the valve cover as the gasket hardens.

Cooling System

Audi runs a lot of plastic in the cooling system, and plastic and heat don't stay friends forever. The water pump housing cracks. The thermostat housing cracks. It feels like an ignition problem, which is exactly why throwing coils and plugs at it wastes money.
