Transmission Issues

Sometimes an issue with the RAV4 can be unique to a certain year model or generation of the vehicle. While different generations of RAV4s have different issues, they all are prone to one issue or another relating to the transmission. These problems are best addressed by an expert.

Depending on the year of your RAV4, you might need to have the software recalibrated, and transmission fluid changed, or components of the transmission themselves replaced. No matter the cause, our team can perform a full diagnosis and get to the bottom of the issue.

Excessive Oil Loss

Like the other issues we will discuss, the RAV4 isn’t alone in the next problem. Excessive oil use happens to many vehicles, and you need to know how to spot the signs to avoid major damage to your RAV4.. It isn’t always as easy as seeing a puddle of oil under the vehicle.

When a RAV4 loses oil, it can leak into the engine itself and cause issues with spark plugs and other components. Sometimes oil can burn off as it leaks as well. In any case, if your check engine light comes on or you remove the dipstick and see a low oil level, your vehicle needs attention. It’s tempting to top off the oil as needed, but it’s a much better idea to have it fixed for good.

Electrical Problems

Depending on the year model of RAV4, there are a few different electrical components which can cause issues. While many vehicles struggle with sensor failure, the RAV4’s electrical problems typically relate to battery drain or glitches.

Some components of the RAV4’s electronics system can remain on even after the vehicle shuts off due to a design flaw. When this happens, the battery can drain quickly. If you’re experiencing a fast-dying battery, these always-on components could be to blame. Other RAV4s experience delays or outright failure in their entertainment screen. In either case, we can correct the issue.

Fuel Pump Failure

While some issues are more uncommon than others, the RAV4’s fuel pump problems actually caused a recall in some gear models. Due to a design flaw, the RAV4’s fuel pump can fail with little or no warning, which creates a dangerous situation for any driver.

The fuel pump issue typically happens suddenly, but our team can sometimes catch the issue during regular maintenance, or if the vehicle is brought in as soon as symptoms start. If your RAV4 stalls or sputters, bring it in as soon as possible so we can check it out.

Coolant System Issues

Any vehicle’s coolant system is crucial to its performance. If the engine gets too hot, it can overheat and cause major damage. RAV4s have been known to have some issues with the water pump and/or coolant leaks. Either issue must be addressed quickly.
