Transmission Failure

One of the most common causes of trouble with various year models of the Ford Escape is the transmission. All year models of the Escape feature an automatic transmission, and many people experience issues as the vehicle tries to move through the gears. Symptoms include increased RPMs without power, rough shifting, or a vibration when accelerating.

There are many components of the transmission system which can fail and cause these issues. If you are experiencing transmission issues, don’t hesitate to bring your Escape in and let us check it out. Some transmission issues can be major repairs, but if you catch them early, you have a better chance at avoiding a high repair bill and a long repair wait time.

Electrical/Entertainment System Glitches

Many Ford Escape owners report strange occurrences related to the vehicle’s electrical system. These problems can have a wide array of symptoms, including batteries which drain often, the touchscreen failing to respond, a non-working backup camera, and more.

While these glitches might seem superficial, they can impact the vehicle’s performance and cause larger problems in time. Luckily, our team is well versed in problems such as these. Typically we can quickly identify the source of the problem, correct the issue, and get you back on the road with no issues in short order.

Coolant Leaks

The coolant system on any vehicle is vital to ensuring it runs as intended. Any engine creates a great deal of heat, and when coolant can’t control temperatures, overheating will occur. The Escape has been known to have various coolant issues, and they can cause major engine damage if not addressed.

The most alarming coolant issue with some year models of Escapes happens when coolant leaks directly into the ignition block. This is a major issue and causes engine failure. Symptoms include misfires, smoke at ignition, and rough idling, and coolant is not visible under the car when this happens. External leaks also cause issues. In either case, if your coolant level is low, come see us as soon as possible.

Fast Suspension Wear and Tear

Parts of the Escape’s suspension have been known to break down quicker than they should. Symptoms of a suspension issue include swaying from side to side when turning, rocking back and forth when going over bumps, knocking noises and/or a noticeable lean to one side or the other.

Suspension issues can be difficult to diagnose without the proper training and equipment, because in most cases the vehicle has to be lifted off the ground and visually inspected. Our team can use our lifts and check sway bars, shocks, bushings, and other components to locate the issue and offer a complete repair solution.

Engine Misfires

The coolant issue we mentioned earlier can be to blame for an engine misfire in Escapes, but other issues have been known to cause misfires as well. An engine misfire happens when the cylinders aren’t able to combust. The symptoms include rough idling and inconsistent acceleration.

If your Escape is having engine misfires, the most likely cause is a worn spark plug, a dirty fuel injector, or a sensor malfunction. Misfires can cause larger issues if left untreated, and our team can typically perform a quick diagnosis and repair to get your Escape back to running as intended.

"Arun and the group at Campbell have been great! Being used to detailed and personable service for over 20 years from Walt's Automotive I was apprehensive about change. While servicing our cars, Auto Driven has shown great care and have been so helpful, personable and thorough."

"Knowledgable expedient understanding and consultative. Eric and Bin knew immediately what the issue was with the 2016 528i and repairs were completed the next morning. Very fair with the cost and provided a lot of recommendations regarding the car as they were very experienced BMW professionals"
